Hello, old friends. It’s been a while.

Lockdown stretches on, deepening their community’s wrestling with what faithfulness to God and neighbors looks like during a pandemic. On top of that, the practical newlyweds have to navigate grief at work, church Zoom gatherings, family tensions, and natural disasters—and that’s only the first few months together. Each new hurdle chips away at the cordial boundaries between them.
They agreed to live together. Now they might just have to figure out how to trust each other.
Convenient is a love-letter to my childhood and early 20s. It’s for the group of friends that kept me sane in 2020, for my first career of teaching. It’s about learning that the safe people in life aren’t always the obvious ones but the ones that will be honest with you and stay with you in the hard times.
The characters in this book are far from perfect. They struggle with anxiety, messy family relationships, navigating what it looks like to honor Christ and love their neighbors in a confusing world, and even occasionally swear (though I tried to keep most of that implicit). But that is what I love about them. I hope that in this story, you see echoes of real people in your life and are encouraged to boldly follow God even when it looks counter-cultural or might be scary.

Set in southern California, this is a book about finding safety in commitment, about loving family even when they hurt you, about regular people navigating how to live like Christ in ordinary jobs. It’s about making a counter-cultural decision in faith and seeing the fruit that comes out of it.
