On my drive to work, I get a brief glimpse of the ocean. ย Today it featured an armada of dark rain clouds sailing in. ย In a sudden thrill of excitement, I wrote a couple of love poems to rain, beloved rain, and here is one of them for your enjoyment.

Rescue
A drought year, a desert dry.
Cracked ground searches the barren sky.
Merciless autumn brings no respite;
Sharp dry wind strips the last hint of lifeโ
Stuck in a succorless siege.
Then over the sea the watchโs eyes catch
A glimpse of our rescue, an army at last,
Rolling in under its banners of gray
Closer and closer throughout the day.
It doesnโt even have to fight:
The march of rain puts drought to flight.
Each rain dropโs step turns dust to mud
And all around new life can bud.
P.S. A Dressember update will be coming in a few days! ย If youโd like to help me reach my goal of raising $300 forย IJM in the month of December, follow this link:ย https://support.dressemberfoundation.org/fundraise?fcid=354197
