Cover Reveal: The Steward’s Apprentice

There is so much exciting news recently! In addition to all the short stories Iโ€™ve been working on, including the Steward Stories collection and โ€œThe Word Thrower,โ€ which is for the Phoenix Fiction Writersโ€™ upcoming anthology, Iโ€™m also picking up book 2 ofย The Firstbornโ€™s Legacy (TFL)ย saga again.

I have a complete first draft of this novel from before I even rewroteย Child of the Kaites. The only problem isโ€ฆI rewroteย Child of the Kaites.ย  In doing so, the world of TFL grew like crazy.ย  My writing has also grown tremendously in the past years, mostly as a result of gaining feedback on my work.

Those are good things, certainly. They just also mean that I now need to completely rewrite and mostly re-imagineย The Stewardโ€™s Apprentice. Iโ€™m planning to begin those rewrites in November as I participate in National Novel Writing Month (NaNo WriMo).

First, I wanted to share the cover of this novel with you, because Iโ€™m SO EXCITED about it! I love how it fits with the cover forย Child of the Kaitesย while still clearly being a different story.

Current Synopsis (may be subject to change as I actually rewrite it):

The Stewardโ€™s Apprentice follows Vree, an orphan struggling with the death of her mentor and trying to fill her shoes.ย  Danni, the birth daughter of Vreeโ€™s mentor, lets her grief turn to jealousy and does everything she can to thwart Vreeโ€™s efforts.ย  Both girls must learn who they really are and come to grips with their weaknesses and their strengths.

How this fits in:

This is the second novel in The Firstbornโ€™s Legacy saga.ย ย The Stewardโ€™s Apprenticeย is set approximately 400 years after the events inย Child of the Kaitesย (hence the need for the 7 โ€œSteward Storiesโ€ in between them).ย  Readers will still be able to enjoy TSA if they havenโ€™t read the Steward Stories.
